I was so sorry to hear of Jonathan’s passing. I only got to know him around the time of his beloved Joanie’s illness but we had a great relationship and I enjoyed driving him to various appointments over the years. He loved telling and listening to stories and he had a very full life. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear that Jonathan passed away a true gentleman Rest in Peace Jonathan
Uncle John, remembering your willingness to share your knowledge, how gracious you were when visited you and Aunt Joan. you showed me your Dublin. I remember watching you play football with us kids in who ever's yard we were in , when you were first dating Aunt Joan, You were there for Foster Avenue Sing Songs and dinners and get togethers, you and Aunt Joan took me to my first downtown movie, and then out to eat after. so many memories. Now you're back with your Joan and though you'll be missed, I'm Happy for you. Say Hello to all for me. Remembering you with Love, Kitten.
Jonathan will be greatly missed by us and all the friends in Dublin; he always brought with him to a chance encounter of old in the Automobile Club or in the United Arts Club, and around the Stephens Green neighbourhood. an aura that lifted ones spirits We counted him as a friend since the 1970s. too full of life to be lost; we pray for him and a Holy Mass is to be offered in his memory. Requiescat in Pace.
John Griff was a great pal of my Dad's from their Chicago days. I will always remember him and Joan, my Dad's first cousin, as the epitome of glamour and cool. So sorry that I didn't get to see him in recent times. He was remembered and mentioned in Knockananna only this Summer. RIP John.
I worked for Jonathan for a year while I was a student in Trinity. I always thought he was an absolute gentleman; most pleasant, thoughtful and generous. He asked me to come and work for him full time. I've always regretted turning down his kind offer. I think of him with fondness on occasion and I will continue to do so.
It’s a great privilege to honor a 51 year friendship with Jonathan. You just had to be there!!😄. Nothing like going out for breakfast at 8:00 PM! A class example of love, guts, emotions, and a heart that grew larger every year. Jonathan went for it every minute of his life. His creator will be most pleased with what he did in this life. Nothing wasted. No tax guys in Heaven Jonathon. We will see you again. “I’d rather die while I’m living than live while I’m dead”.
So sad at hearing of Jonathan's death. May he rest in peace. Didn't realise he was so sick when i visited him about two months ago. I sense he never got over the death of his beloved wife, Joanie, as he called her, my double first cousin. May he now rest in peace in the company of Joan and his parents and all the other Foley family who have gone before us. Have remembered him in the celebration of mass. Fr. Paddy
Just want to thank you for being in my life. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Jonathan.
