Its difficult to imagine anyone could have ever taken a dislike to Johno ..he was one of the very very few souls you d meet who you knew instinctively never judged or questioned who or what you are.. never had a ulterior motive .. he just was what you saw . A truly beautiful soul that i felt a privilege to have known.. and definitely one that will stay with me despite him having left .. deepest condolences to those for whom the loss must be unbearable
To Paul and Cathy, my sincerest condolences on the loss of your sweet, fun, smiling little brother, Johno. He had such a positive character, independence and determination. I remember him so fondly and will hold him in my heart. My thoughts are with you both at this sad time.
As a kid on a skateboard, I would often hang around Deansgrange library, hoping to cross paths with Johno. Hoping that I might gain some insight, or even reach enlightenment.

But I learned most from Johno simply by watching him. Not just watching him skate but watching his attitude.

Johno approached everything with conviction. He never went in halfcocked, always fully committed. And that determination taught me a lot.

When I went back skating during lockdown, Johno was there to give me advice (albeit over Facebook messenger).

Asking him about a particular challenge I was having with the lip of the ramp he told me — ‘If you're not committing, you're looking for trouble'.

To Paul and Cathy, my sincerest condolences. Like a lot of people who’ve spent time with Johno over the years, his death is a total shock— despite knowing it was coming.

He was my hero and he was my friend. I was (and still am) very proud to have known him.

May he rest in power.
Johno will always be remembered by us all for living so strongly and exuding great vibes, a fine soul and a real bad*ss. Rest well Johno and see you down the road.

Sincere condolences to his family. So sorry for your loss

Johno burned brightly and brought joy to the world , he will be remembered fondly .RIP
Very sad news. My deepest condolences to Johno’s family.

I didn’t know Johno personally, but he was something of a local hero, growing up in Deansgrange in the 1980s.

He was a little older than me. I admired his style and his amazing BMX skills. I still remember him riding a GT Pro Performer (there can’t have been many of them in Ireland at the time) and the quarter pipe that peaked up above the wall of his back garden on Clonkeen Road. His talent will always shine in my memories. Rest in peace, Johno.
Very sad news of the passing of Johno. Very nice guy and a great skater. Remember Johno working in Clive's on Hill Street and he was always friendly. Watched him do some awesome tricks in the Top Hat. Condolences to his family at this sad time. RIP.

A beautiful soul, who always made everyone crack a smile. Fly high and free sunshine with love.
Deepest condolences Cathy and Paul for your great loss.
Oh it gets so lonely
When you're walking
And the streets are full of strangers
All the news of home you read
Just gives you the blues
Just gives you the blues
So I bought me a ticket
I caught a plane to Spain
Went to a party down a red dirt road
There were lots of pretty people there
Reading Rolling Stone reading Vogue
They said "How long can you hang around?"
I said a week maybe two
Just until my skin turns brown
Then I'm going home to California

Huge loss to the world x
