I am so sorry to learn that Jimmy Joe is no longer with us. For many years he was a larger than life character on the London music scene.

He played his saxophone and sang songs at the Annual North Leitrim/West Cavan Dance - often referred to as The Dowra Dance.

He will be remembered for his rendition of Murphy and the Bricks which he performed on BBC Radio 5. Back in the day, another of his favourites was The Old Alarm Clock.

Rest in peace Jimmy Joe, I am sure you will give the folks up there as much enjoyment as you did in Leitrim and around the London music scene.

Just heard the sad news of the passing of the great Jimmy Joe Dolan,my deepest sympathy to his family and a wide circle of great friends.I have played with jimmy joe on many occasions over the years and what an entertainer,he maybe gone but never forgotten,he will always be in our prayers,thank you jimmy joe for those great times,may you rest in peace,love you buddy.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jimmy Joe’s passing. He was a brilliant musician and it was a real privilege to have played in a band with him all those years ago. Beyond the music Jimmy Joe was a true gentleman and someone whose company I always enjoyed.

He gave so much of himself over the years not only through his music but also through his hard work as a talented painter and decorator, always generous with his time and skills. He will be remembered with great affection and respect by all who knew him.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Jimmy Joe.... A great friend to me and so many others. First met him in London many years ago, Always upbeat and positive, great company and the life of the party. A man of so many talents, a singer, a musician, a songwriter, a storyteller and tradesman...
Thankfully some of his recordings have been captured on CD and YouTube and will recall to many his unique voice and performance...
We won't see his likes again. 😔

My deepest condolences to the Dolan family on the passing of Jimmy Joe.I met him in London,circa 1975 when he was an accomplished musician on the Irish enrtainment circuit with his own one man band.
We got on well and I did an interview with him for my London Commentary column in the Leitrim Observer.He was charasmatic and great company.Unfortunately I never met him again and didnt realise he was living in Manorhamilton.May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Joe when he recorded a few tracks with me a few years ago. He was a gentleman with a great voice for both singing and telling great stories from his days in London. May he rest in peace.
