Really sad to hear the news of a true Gentleman. Thinking of all the family at this sad time.
I have very fond memories of Joey from my time as a junior member in Hermitage. He was so friendly and always up for a laugh. He worked hard and had the rose garden pristine and the bunkers in great nick. My whole family were very fond of him and sad to hear of his passing. He gave a lot to Hermitage over his 50 years working in the club. Rest in peace Joey.

Joe will be sadly missed by us all. We fondly will remember him calling with selection boxes and Easter eggs for the kids. We are neighbours a long time and for as long as I can remember he wouldn’t pass the kids without handing out jellies. Will miss him at the bustop in the mornings and cutting our grass. Always dressed in his Sunday finest. Joe was a gent. Rest easy.

I had the sincere pleasure of being Joes neighbour for the passed 22 years, he introduced himself to me and my Mam as I was moving in he then gave me a lump of coal and holy water which I still have in my kitchen as a good luck gesture and positive energy. I got to know Joe over the years extremely well he was a true gentleman and a friend. He remembered my sons and Nadine and Robbies childrens birthdays every year. My sons are 25 and 19 and they both got a selection box from Joe apparently noones too old for chocolate.! To say my heart is broken is an understatement I cant believe he wont be dropping in to tell me stories and make me laugh, to rant about neighbours that were ugly babies. Joe knows whom I referring to. The world is a little darker now that hes gone but I pray he has reunited with Ellie and theyre in the light and warmth together. We will miss you Joe beyond any words I miss you already Joe xx Tracy

Joe was a lovely man and a familiar face to us all. He spent hours every day in the centre, starting his morning with breakfast in the food court before making his way around the mall. You would often see him chatting with staff and tenants or sitting quietly reading his newspaper.
He was a genuinely kind and gentle man and someone we all loved to see.
