Joseph (Joe) Clancy

Rose, just learnt of the passing of your darling Joe. My sincere sympathy to yourself and your daughters. I feel your pain but, he will be minding you from above. May he rest in peace.

Wishing Joe's family peace and comfort at this time. We wanted to share our memoriesof Joe with you. Sorry it's long but when you meet someone so very special - it is hard to say but a few words.

We were beyond lucky to have been on one of Susan Spencers wonderful tours to Ireland. We adventured for 10 days through that beautiful country with the one (and only) Joe Clancy at the helm of our bus. He was our history teacher, comedian, singer and magical story teller. 
Joe was highly entertaining. Without him, Ireland would have remained a silent beauty as we gazed out our windows at her passing green pastures, castles, rivers, pubs, quaint hotels and healing wells. With him our minds were filled with inspiring, funny, tragic and incredibly touching stories that were always told in his endearing accent... and always with that touch of boyish mischief and humor. 

Simply put, he was the heart and soul of our trip and we knew we would never forget him....and we haven't. Not many days have passed since 2019 that we haven't thought of Joe and all his stories, poems and songs; The Old Bog Road - Mussels and Cockles - Mary and Paddy Murphy - young Irish boys immigrating to the U.S... and on and on... each one so very special. 

We so love you Joe Clancy - safe travels.

I toured for 10 days with Joe in the Fall of 2019.I found him to be witty, funny, and very knowledgeable of all aspects of Ireland.
Rarely in ones life does one come across someone who you spend such a little bit of time with, but who makes such a big impression-Joe was that guy.
A great Ambassador for Ireland! He will be missed.

We were so sad to hear of Joe’s passing. He was our tour guide in 2019 and he made our first trip to Ireland absolutely perfect. He was a gentleman and truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting. We hold the memories of Joe from our trip so near to our hearts - from his singing to his Irish trivia - it just wouldn’t have been the same without him. Our deepest condolences go to the entire Clancy family. May you find peace in knowing that there are people across the globe who will cherish his memory for generations to come.

We're so sad to hear of Joe's passing. Joe was our guide for two trips to your beautiful country. He was a fine gentleman who entertained us with his sharp wit, taught us about your lovely country and cared for all of us who had the pleasure of traveling with him. He was a gentle friend. We rose early (5:20am our time) to watch his funeral service streamed from your parish.

Last November I was able to gather with other like minded individuals in taking my first tour to Ireland. It was wonderful. It is there that I met Joe Clancy, who was one of 3 bus drivers assigned to our tour. On one of the day trips, I was afforded a small glimpse of his knowledge, whimsy, singing talent, and gentlemanliness, and it is a time I will always treasure. Mr. Clancy was so full of life and one of many delightful people I met while in your beautiful country. I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to “attend” his funeral service this morning via the live stream from your parish. Though not traditionally an early riser, at 5:30am here in North Carolina, United States, I had the privilege of joining in the celebration of the life of Joe Clancy. May his memory forever be a blessing, and may God comfort you all.

Joseph Clancy was the kindest of gentlemen. The chosen driver / guide for each of my Irish tour groups over the past 10 years--there was no finer guide. My guests enjoyed the "public" Joe, which consisted of the lovely ballads, the required history lessons, and the gentle humor while telling the tribulations of Mary & Paddy Murphy - and marvelled at his amazing driving skills. And, he was not afraid to stop and ask directions. I enjoyed watching all the ways that Joseph made my tours tick along seamlessly. I learned so much from him, he was a true professional in every way, and I shall miss the pleasure of working with him, especially because he made my job so easy. My sincerest condolences to his lovely wife, Róisín, his daughters, and grandchildren, whom he frequently spoke of with such love during our conversations on the road.
