I was saddened to hear about Joe's passing. Skibbereen will be a little less bright without his wonderful smile. He was a true gentleman. Always well dressed and willing to chat with any and all. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his brother, Seán and the rest of the family. His gentle spirit and loving nature touched everyone who knew him.

We had many a chat over the garden wall and even after I moved from Townshend Street he would always have time to stop and chat. Such a kind hearted man. A true gentleman. Sympathy to his family.I first met Joe on a pilgrimage to the Passion Play in Oberammague 10+ years ago and again 2 years ago in Lourdes where we had great chats between the prayers. He was a thorough gentleman and most interesting to chat to. I will tune into his Funeral Mass on Thurs. RIP Joe. Mary Murphy
