Sincere condolences to Joe's family on his passing. Joe was such a nice man. As his son said at the funeral mass his inability to say no was at a cost to himself at times in doing what he had to do. He was an intellect and above all a gentleman who was respected by all who worked with him May he rest in peace.
My sympathy to the Doherty family. I had occasional contact with Joe over the years and like everyone else here found him a gentleman and great company. I last met him in Nassau St. a fair while ago when he entertained me with stories of the reorganisation of the Bank then, which explained a lot. So sad to hear of his death. RIP
Joe's constant good cheer and great store of knowledge made hm a great colleague and wonderful company in less formal settings.

Rest in Peace, Joe.
So sorry to learn of Joe’s death. We had a very good working relationship when I was in the NTMA and he was one of my regular contacts in the Central Bank. He was always cheerful and helpful. Sadly, we hadn’t met for many years - not, I think, since I retired. My condolences to his wife and family.
