I was saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I extend my condolences to you Mary and your daughters Maire and Claire. Joe was my French teacher in St. Flannan's College in the early 1980's and had that great quality of being genuinely interested in your progress not just throughout school but in later life as well. It was a mark of the gentleman he was as was stopping to chat on the street years afterwards. It was characteristic of the Christianity that he lived out no doubt until the end. Just heard of Joe's death today and i wish you all my sympathy on his passing. A lovely man, i knew him quite well in Ennis sharing many interests including a love of Mayo football. He spoke lovingly and appreciatively of his family. If i had heard earlier i would have attended the mass in Ballycorick as i have moved to Mayo. I wish you my heartful sympathy in your loss.
