Heartfelt sympathy to you all at this time. Keeping you in the prayers.
My deepest sympathy to Anne, Dermot and Wendy and all of Joe's family. I was saddened to hear of Joe's death, many a good chat I had with Joe while working in CERT. Joe was a hard working man, and his dedication to the company and his family was outstanding. Thinking of you all at this sad and tough time, mind yourselves and take care.
As a colleague in CERT, and later in Fáilte Ireland, I have vivid memories of Joe Kane, whose company was never dull. An astute observer of the human condition, his sharp and accurate observations about colleagues and life generally, expressed fluently and usually with unerring accuracy, often brought a smile to my face.

Joe was small in stature, but his confidence, intelligence and the size of his personality evened any contest with taller folk. Though not taller than Joe, I remember, on an office golf outing, offering my opinion as to why he had hit a poor tee shot, I never dared again. I forgive you, Joe, if you forgive me!

Joe was a good manager of his life and open to change, two examples being his enthusiasm for relocating from Terenure to Co. Wexford, and an openness to changing industries in mid-career.

Joe’s love for and pride in his family was clear to his work colleagues. Joe was a decent human being and a gentleman, a man with the positive standards of his era. Joe, enjoy your pitch ‘n’ putt and golf on perfectly maintained celestial courses.
