It was with great sadness that I heard of Joe's death. Joe was a true gentleman.

Dear Joan and Family, My deepest condolences on the passing of your wonderful husband, father and Grandfather Joe.

Joe was a Wonderful Lecturer and Support in both Shannon and Galway. Joe was especially instrumental in organising my transfer and admission to UCG after finishing Shannon and for that I am forever grateful.

When I thanked Joe in person in Galway at his 1st lecture and 2 years later at my graduation, he humbly said it was nothing and that I deserved it. It was more than nothing. It meant the world to me and changed my career and life direction.

Joe's kindness, humility and sense of fun were always evident in all our chats. He was always interested and curious about what you were up to and always offered encourgement especially coming up to final exams!

A True Gentleman!

I got to know Joe when he spearheaded the fundraising for the (then) new classroom block. He was a delightful and helpful man whose company I enjoyed, a true gentleman. My condolences to his family, may he rest in peace
