I have good memories of assisting Joe at bridge events and playing in events with him as director. He helped to revolutionise the scoring of Bridge Tournaments in Ireland. Condolences to Moya, his constant companion.
I knew Joe well in his prime, directing every major Bridge tournament in Ireland. A gentleman who wore his expertise lightly and made everyone feel valued. A great loss to his family, his friends and Bridge generally. RIP, Joe and thanks.
Was away and only have just learnt about Joe’s passing . My deepest sympathies to Moyà. Joe was a gentleman to the core. From about 1990 for 10+ years we met virtually every weekend in the congress circuit. He ran every event smoothly and I never saw him lose his cool no matter what was been thrown at him.
