Sincere sympathy to Mary and the Nix and Gunter families on the passing of dear Joe a great friend during my short tenure in Loughrea in 1972. I had the good fortune to visit Joe and Mary during my few short months in Loughrea.

Deepest sympathy to Mary and family. It was a great pleasure to meet and interview Joe a few years ago - it’s something I cherish. I grew up in Roscrea hearing about Joe from my late uncle Kieran McNicholas. They trained together in the Depot and served in Loughrea in the 1950s. Joe was very generous with his time to me when we met. May he rest in peace.
