We were so sorry to hear about the passing of your wonderful Dad and Grandad.
He was an extraordinary man and his legacy will live on through the next generations. We are so sorry we weren't with you in person today but It was a privilege to have been able to watch remotely. The eulogies were so moving and Joe's words in his letter to Michael will stay with us for a very long time.
Hoping all the wonderful memories will sustain you through the difficult days.
Only great memories since the early fifties. Thanks Mate

Dear Barry,
Please accept our sincerest condolences on the death of your father.
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your very special Dad Joe. I worked with your Dad as a Production Assistant when he was planning and making the Bosco programmes. I spent my days royally entertained by his amazing story telling. I also had the pleasure of working with your lovely Mam Tina in Vision Mixing. I wish you in time the warmest and happiest memories of a very special couple. Your Mam and Dad.
I was very happy to know Joe and Tina a little, meeting them socially over the years through great mutual friends. They were a truly lovely couple, so warm and friendly, and totally engaged. It was always such a pleasure to meet them. Rest in peace Joe, and sincere condolences to Joe’s family and friends.
Barry

Great memories of Joe and Tina. A sad goodbye. A man of great talent, he will be remembered for his
wonderful stories and incredible evenings with Tina and himself. Let’s hope we will all meet up and have another chance to laugh and enjoy.
Betty.
Beannacht Dé le hanam Joe. I will be forever grateful for his guidance & advice at the beginning of my career. Rest in peace.
So sad to hear of Joe’s passing. Joe & Tina were always part of my life for as long as I can remember. Always kind and interested in the little me, to more recent times when they showed such interest in my daughter Lola’s arrival. A sad day for me and our family.
So sorry to hear of the death of the Very Great Joe O’Donnell who started so many careers and who became friends with all of them.
Joe gave Horslips their first break - a six part series, no less- with the groundbreaking Fonn in 1971. The rest is history but Joe - and the much missed Tina-continued to mentor us and dispense friendship and canny advice in equal measure. I am forever indebted.
Not everyone deserves the elegaic ‘we will not see his like again’. Joe deserves it in spades…
Barry, Michael and families. Sincere sympathy on the passing of your lovely Dad, Joe. I owe him a great debt as he came up with the idea for my own, popular, art and craft TV show "How do you do?", better known as "Mary's Make and Do"! He was a one off, had wonderful imagination and more importantly, a real feel for young people's television programmes. He devised and produced such classics as Wanderley Wagon and Bosco, which a whole generation of Irish children grew up on. I also worked with him and Tina on Action Stations Saturday, a Saturday morning show, great fun. He certainly made his mark on life and will be greatly missed.
Sincere condolences to Barry and Family. What a wonderful age to have reached but I know that doesn't make the sorrow any lighter.

With every warm wish

Mr Justice Max Barrett & Family
Sincerest condolences to Barry and all the family at this incredibly sad time.
I am very sorry for your loss.
Sincere sympathy to Michael and Barry and all Joe's family.
I am so sad to hear of Joe's passing. I had the joy of working with Joe on many Young People's programmes, including the magical Fortycoats. He was legend. So talented and so much fun. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he was wonderful to work with - the best.
At the end of each working day Joe would stand up from his desk and pronounce: "Enough for God and Ireland, it's time to go home."
So rest well Joe.
On behalf of the Munster Society of Magicians I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to the O'Donnell Family on the sad loss of Joe. I knew Joe for many years meeting up at many magic conventions, always a thorough gentleman and brilliant magician. REST IN PEACE Joe.

Darling Joe and darling Tina …. we were best friends for over fifty years. I love you both so much. We had many many happy years together at work and at play. In recent times we went on memorable holidays together with Moya, Mike, Annie, Gay, Kathleen … all the best company you could imagine. Love, laughter, friendship, magic always. We all loved Joe and what he brought to the party. An unusually talented man with a deep spiritual base. You will live in my heart and my memories forever.
Deepest sympathy to the O’Donnell/ring families. I was sorry to hear of joe’s passing I remember playing with Tina in Mt Prospect as a child many many years ago when u all visited Ainne & Gus. Thinking of you all now and you too Raphael. Stella xx
I am so sad to learn of Joe's passing. He and Tina were dear friends for so many years. I have great memories of meals together, none better than the Queimada, with Joe reciting his spell over the blazing urn of aguardiente, for my 70th birthday. Joe was a special person who brought a true celtic flavour and magic to children's drama. My deep sympathy to Michael and Barry and all Joe's extended family. Ní fheicfhimíd a leithéid arís ann.
So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. To say he was a one off is understating it. Magician, raconteur, sometime poet, scriptwriter, tv producer, loving husband for so many years to wonderful, lovable Tina.
For many years Joe and Tina were treasured traveling companions to Ann and myself. We derived such pleasure from their company. We laughed, sang, dined together and , as all Irish people do, we teased each other mercilessly!
Such fun. Such wonderful memories.
Our deepest condolences to Michael and Barry and the extended family.
Very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. We worked together in our early years and I played the Bosco theme for him many a time in Fern Dean in our later years. Great memories, RIP.
I’m very sad to hear of the passing of our very dear friend.
We really lovedJoe lots of love Paula and BOSCO X
Knock knock open wide
see whats on the other side
knock knock any more
come with me through the magic door

So Bosco’s great friend is gone. The man who brought magic into the lives of tens of thousands of Irish children left his life as he lived his life - quietly, peacefully and content.

His early years touring the land as an actor and producer gave him an understanding of audiences few possessed. But it was his understanding that children were the citizens of the future which set him apart. The fact that he epitomized the best of childhood - curiosity, openness, optimism, innocence - meant he could weave his magic with every and any age. It is an oft used phrase but we truly will not see his like again. And for those of us who mourn dear Joe we can only follow Bosco and say thank you and- Tidy up. Good bye good bye.
Sincere sympathy to all the family on the death of Joe. Great memories of working with him on ‘Wanderly Wagon’ many years ago. Ar dheis De go raibh a hainm uasal. Margaret Martin, Rte

A generation of kids grew up watching Joe's Saturday morning shows which we loved. A lovely talented man who loved to entertain the young people of Ireland. I never worked with him met him a few times and his lovely wife Tina. RIP Joe and thank you for the memories.
Joe,
What a beautiful man you were - you were an inspiration to me way back, especially in 'Morbeg Land' where we first met, you as director, and me as actor and writer. I loved your scripts, and I have a few pages from an original 'Wanderly Wagon' that I framed and hung in my office. Your workshops were such a delight! I continue on your good work today as best I can. Thank you so much
Warmest regards on a cold October weekend,
Dominic
