I had business dealings with Joe many years ago and he was a most agreeable man to speak to and with whom to do business.

Uncle Joe's shop was a place to be when we were all much younger and though the years take us all on different roads I can still see him with that slightly incredulous look on his face on hearing something novel. We can hope he found calm after the storm. RIP

Our paths converged again in recent years and it was apparent that Sylvia's death had left a huge gap in his life which he regularly referred to in his poetry.

He was a lovely man and I always went to Joe's shop in Catherine Street when I was going to school and college. He always looked after me and his late wife Sylvia and I had many a long chat. Joe will be sadly missed. He did so much good for others and I will forever remember his kindness. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace

Deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad, both Joe and Sylvia were such great a great couple, manys the conversation i had with them in The Whitehouse and there was one continuing theme and that was their pride in their 3 children. Reunited again together, god speed to them until we all meet again. Rest in peace Joe.
