Sincere condolence to Mary, Marianne, Michael and the extended Shanahan family on the sad loss of your brother, Joe. He was a valued volunteer in the Mothel Graveyard recording project in June 2023 and gave unselfishly of his time. He was most obliging in revisiting Mothel and rechecking gravestone inscriptions prior to online publication.

We shared a desk in St Declan’s primary school, as did our fathers before us in Clonea Power. As school boys we both dreamed of becoming Pilots with Aer Lingus, instead we both became engineers.
