My brother Tom just sent me this link and I wanted to take this opportunity to offer my sincerest condolences to Mavis, the girls and family on the loss of their beloved Joe. Joe was like a dear uncle to me when I lived in Ireland between the ages of 10 and 11. He and Mavis always welcomed me into their lovely home with open arms to play with Orla and Deirdre. Joe had such a big warm heart and I am sure he is looking down on us all from heaven with one of his bright smiles. I will always remember Joe fondly and with deep admiration for the great kindess he showed throughout his life. I am praying for you all that you find comfort in each other during this difficult time and that Joe's soul will forever be at peace.
God Bless,
Maureen

My sincere sympathy to all the Kelly family. I fondly remember Joe from my days back in the 90's when I worked in Limerick Travel. At that time he was doing a lot of work related travel and came into me on a regular basis to book his tickets. He had the biggest smile whenever he came into the office and was one of my favourite customers. Such a really lovely guy. I am sure he is hugely missed by many many people. May he rest in peace.
To Mavis, Deirdre and all the Kelly family. Sincerest sympathies to you all. So very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. While I did not have the honour of knowing Joe myself, I have heard many wonderful stories about him and all that he did for our little community. On behalf of all the families at DSL, sleep tight Joe. x
We're so very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a great friend to Tom's dad, and Tom will never forget Joe being his confirmation sponsor, taking him fishing, and generally taking him under his wing while Tom was living in Ireland. Anyone who met Joe would know right away what a profoundly kind and good man he was, and surely he is watching over his family now from Heaven.
Our sincere sympathies to Mavis, Phil, Margaret, Deirdre and Orla on the passing of Joe, a loving husband and father.
Joe was a wonderful, kind, and generous friend to me, a lifelong friend to my brother Tom and loved by all our family. I have so many happy memories of Joe to recall, each made special by Joe’s gift to bring laughter and song to every occasion.
Like a line from one of your songs Joe, ‘In Happy Moments Day by Day’:
“Remembrance will recall, whose pure and whose unfading beam is dearer then them all”.
Sing well Joe, with the choir of angels in heaven.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Mavis, on my own behalf and my wife Noreen, let us express our deepest sympathy on the death of Joe. I spent many days in his wonderful company when we were both in the trade union movement. Joe was always a rock of sense when it came to debate and his advice was always listen too. Joe worked in the Limerick Leader and I worked in the Kerryman in Tralee. We have met many times but you do not remember me, however I got a phone call from John Magner who told me of Joe's death. May he rest in peace and he can organise the chapels in Heaven.

It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing our dear friend and fellow Unite member. On behalf of Unite's Retired Members Branch and myself, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy and sorrow to Mavis and all the family.
Joe regularly attended our monthly Committee meetings in Middle Abbey Street Dublin up until the arrival of Covid last March. A true gentleman, his contributions in his softly spoken voice were with great wisdom, care, sensitivity and humour. We will miss him terribly.
Joe was an exceptional man and a really proud husband and father as is evident by the many proud stories he would tell of his family.
