Slan a chara. Larry RIP
We were all so shocked to hear of Larry's death. Such a loving, energetic, generous, enthusiastic person, who loved introducing children to the wonder of words, and expanding their social consciousness. Always fun to be with, and always with a great sense of fun, Larry was such a fixed point in the world of children's literatute and events: he really will be sorely missed by so many people. All best wishes to Aisling and the whole family from everyone at O'Brien Press (proud to have been one of Larry's publishers!)
So very sorry to hear such sad news of Larry. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. I have sweet memories of working with Aislinn at Wolfhound and of Larry’s bear-like presence. For years afterwards, whenever I met Larry, he was warm, friendly, so in love with books, writing, poems and connecting with children, bringing them on flights of pure, joy-filled fancy. He always remembered my eldest daughter’s name and how as a child she hugged and talked to the standing stones. Larry is in my thoughts and has a special corner in my heart.
Monica, Roisin, Sean, Aislinn, and Sinead I wish to convey my deepest sympathies to you all on the sad news of Larry’s death. We have great memories of his visits to Cloghercove back in the day.A wonderful talented man he will be greatly missed .

He visited us at Griffeen Valley Educate Together NS many times over the years. The children loved his energy, enthusiasm and encouragement during writers workshop. As a teacher, it was an honour and pleasure to work alongside him and to see the joy for writing that he sparked in the children. He was an absolute gentleman and we will remember him with a smile.

He was a wonderful colleague in ICC Bank for many years.
We regularly slagged off Larry (and his other colleagues in Marketing )

insults with interest !

So sad to hear the news. My thoughts are with Aislinn, Monica and the family. Larry was amazing - kind, funny, warm and he gave the best hugs!
I first met him in the 1990s through the Irish children’s book community and I’ve always been in awe of how he interacted so naturally and honestly with children and young people. He had such a lovely way of making you feel seen and listened to.
I will re-read Worms Can’t Fly and smile to myself at the joy and laughter he spread with his poetry and his school visits. RIP, Larry.
