I hadn’t met him for some years but I have great memories of the time we worked together in CSO, playing football and of late nights spent enjoying ourselves in Rathmines and Rathgar. Sincere condolences to Patricia and the Mc Loughlin family JJ, Tony and Philip and extended family on the sudden passing of Joe. It was such a shock when I got the call on Monday of the sad news. Joe was some character a decent and professional person. I first got to know Joe in the courts in North Brunswick which I attended on a regular basis and then he moved to court 45 in Chancery St and then onto CCJ No 3 with Judge Walsh. Joe always looked after his county men in court and of course I got the VIP treatment being from the next parish from his home in Castletowmbere. What a legend and how he controlled the courts in which he worked in that included the accused the legal profession and the guards and maybe sometimes Judges. His facial expression would say it all. Of course we kept in touch after his retirement from the courts and often got a call or a txt from him if there was a programme on tv in relation to Beara or West Cork. A true legend and a true Cork man has left us. May you rest in peace Joe

My sincere condolences to Patricia and all the McLaughlin family on the passing of Joe. I have many wonderful memories of Joe from the CSO where he was my boss for some time. Joe ,a great Corkman and lover of all sports was always great craic.
Our career paths crossed again in the early 00s when Joe was literally ' the man ' in Court 45 in the Custody Office. Joe was a larger than life character in the courts and later in the CCJ where he was an excellent professional in a role that suited his big personality. Rest in peace Joe.

So sorry to hear the very sad news about Joe’s death, what a man and what a character, one of the all-time greats, a very popular and likeable person, who was always so proud of his Cork roots, it was a pleasure to work with Joe over the years in CSO, he enjoyed life and lived a good and happy life. Joseph lived across the road and grew up as part of our family. He was a fun person with a hearty laugh. He was gentle and kind always great for a chat. I was delighted to read he led a very full and varied life which he enjoyed immensely. Joseph left his mark in a very positive way may he now rest in peace.
