A heart of gold stopped beating,
two willing hands at rest,
God broke our heart's to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Each time I tend the roses and shrubs you helped me select on my trips to Scalpwood, I am reminded of shared memories and stories told over tea and dinner at the kitchen table of my late mother Teresa Mac Mahon (Todd), who always looked forward to your regular visits, particularly at Christmas - heartfelt thank you for all you did to brighten our lives.
Your green fingers will be put to good use in Heaven and may you rest in peace, for ever and ever - Your cousin Eugene.

PS - to all those who visited Joseph in hospital & nursing home, sent Mass Cards and expressed their condolences in person and via telephone / internet, thank you for your kindness, which is greatly appreciated by all of us who were, and are blessed to have known Joseph Mc Mahon.

My family and I were deeply saddened to hear of Joseph’s death and we tender our sincere sympathies and condolences to the McCarthy and McMahon families in their bereavement.

We will remember Joseph with fondness, as a very kind and learned gentleman of quiet disposition, a country man at heart who loved the land. There are trees still growing that knew his touch and are the taller for it.

May he Rest in Peace, in the beautiful garden of Glencullen amid the fields of flowers and heather, forever reunited with his dear Mother Mary and his Father Frank in Heaven.

Sympathies to all Jodie’s family on his sad passing. Another class mate from Newbridge College gone too young. RIP.
My condolences to Jodie`s family. Knew Jodie from Newbridge college days. We had met a few times over the years and had great chats. Very sad to hear of his death. It shocks to lose another classmate so young. May he rest in peace.
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend, colleague, and mentor. It is difficult to put into words the immense loss we all feel, as he was truly a remarkable individual who touched the lives of so many.

His unwavering moral compass served as a guiding light for not only myself but for so many of us, and his presence will be sorely missed. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have known him for so long and to have been on the receiving end of his invaluable guidance and support. He was a true mentor, always there to offer a helping hand and share his wisdom with kindness and humility.

It was an honour to reciprocate even a fraction of the care and support he provided me over the years. His dedication to his craft and his passion for horticulture were truly inspiring. He was an oracle of knowledge, and his expertise will leave an indelible mark on the field.

As we mourn this profound loss, let us remember the incredible person Joseph was and the countless lives he touched. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength during this difficult time. My deepest condolences go out to his extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Deepest sympathy to Joe's family.
I knew Joe both from meeting him at his garden centre business many times and from the times when he and I were canvassing for FF over many elections. Also, growing up in my parents' home in Priory Avenue, I was conscious of his parents particularly because Joe's father (Frank McMahon) and my father (James Murphy) were very good friends from their Booterstown days. Joe was an absolute gentleman. May he rest in peace.

From all the staff at Kelly's Nursery.
So sorry to hear of Joe's death. We loved going to Scalp Nurseries and getting his advice on all things horticultural, we have many plants in our garden bought from Joe. He was so kind. One Christmas he delivered two wreaths, beautifully made by Veronica, which were sent by my sisters in Chicago. He went to no end of trouble to deliver them personally only two days before Christmas. RIP Joe.
Very sorry to hear that Joe has passed. Friend and neighbour.
So, so sorry to lose an old friend. He was a giant of a man, gentle and caring. We will miss you, Joe, but you will be forever in our hearts.

I did not know Joe personally, I only met him on my visits to Scalp Nurseries where Joe & his staff were always very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. You could tell everyone loved working there. My thoughts are with his family, colleagues & friends - a deeply liked and respected man - he will be greatly missed- May he rest in peace in the eternal garden.
Joseph will be remembered with love, affection and smiles by my family here in the UK.

Joseph and his parents were an important part of my life growing up in Co Wicklow, and remained so through the years. Felix, Forestry Inspector, mentioned in a previous message is my father, and would be very proud of Joseph's achievements.

My thoughts are with Joe's family, work colleagues, neighbours and friends. Joe loved nature, plants and animals, which made Scalp Wood in Kilternan a very special place for him... "The love and care we give to nature, can draw us more deeply into the circle of life, into the wonder of our common relationship to our Creator." - Farmer Joe will be remembered by so many for his gentleness and kindness.
