In later years I didn't have the chance to meet him but I always liked him and had fond memories from my youth of him having a laugh and a joke with the culchie cousins up from Mayo. Im stunned and shocked only found out last night of Joes passing was trying to call him all week as we were to play golf today..There was never a dull moment in Joes company we had some great times down the years he was some man for one man many he cause havoc above Rest in peace my friend 🧡

I recall meeting him in my first year in secondary school, he made time for the younger lads and was always happy.
Everyone wanted to be like him or around him, both on and off the pitch.
I saw him as some kind of superstar instantly, the best player in the school and the club, with Ciaran McDonald like skills long before we had Ciaran McDonald.
And I still have nightmares about standing in goal awaiting an epic Joe Munds free anywhere within 30 yards of me………. I just prayed he’d miss me.!
He had the hardest shot, and always was on target.
Ran into him a few times over the years and he was a true gentleman, from the beginning to the end.

Met Joe on a few occasions at the Allotments at Meaktown. He was an absolute gentleman and kind and witty. We had great chats and humour, a truly fine character. Very sad to hear of his sudden passing,rest in peace Joe.

Such sad news. Joe was a very kind funny gentleman who will be very sadly missed. It was a privilege to have spent hours on the golf course in his company, mainly punctuated with howls of laughter. Another good one gone far too soon. RIP Big Joe and thanks for everything.

I am very sorry to hear of Joe's sudden passing. I have fond memories of growing up in Cedarwood; Joe was always very kind and had a great sense of humour. I am thinking of Catherine, Ian, Dylan, Stephen, Lauren, and Louise at this very sad time. May he rest in peace.

Shocked, stunned, and shattered about Joseph and a link to the great days growing up in the 60’s. The 70’s and 80’s - no phones, no cameras, or GPS and such. Visits to the house in the double decker bus. Many accomplishments for Charlestown and Mayo. Football finals for multiple teams as “bangers” in the Dublin area. Games in Gaelic Park. Reprimands from refs. Working on the highrises in Manhattan under a necessary alias…Joe was Tom, I was Max…funny! Sleeping in the BMW hotel at the fleadh. Every story was embellished and recounted by Joe and had his captive audience in stitches. So sad that we won’t hear him repeat them again. Never forgotten.
Our thoughts are with Catherine, Ian, Stephen, Dylan, Lauren and Louise, and Joseph’s family and friends.
