It was a lovely send off yesterday, reminding us of all the fun that accompanied Joe, through him the introduction to your parents, and to each of you, followed by the great kindness extended by the Murphy clan, not just to Joe's pals, but to their siblings too.
Thank you Joe and rest in peace.

Joe was a total joy to meet at Dublin Art Exhibitions and Baggot St Pubs.
Always interested in everyone and everything.

He was extraordinarily kind, thoughtful and fun.

An irreplaceable loss.
Lovely gentleman when I knew him in castleknock. Always saw the bright side. Sympathies to his brothers and sisters may he rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to all Joe’s family and friends. Joe was one of the kindest people I ever met. He was witty and erudite and was always happy. So sad to hear of Joe’s death and my condolences to all Joe’s family of whom he was so fond. Joe rang on my birthday every year for so many years. I had a long chat with Joe last Summer at a party in Kilkenny. He was such a kind and brave soul and I shall miss his unique presence greatly. RIP dear Joe and I have no doubt you are already brightening up heaven in your inimitable style.
To all Joe's family, deepest condolences; knew Joe for a very long time, and like many people, liked him very much. We'd meet a few times a year now, he was always very warm, and I assumed that would go on for ever. The world's a poorer place.

Rest in peace joe.
Sincerest sympathies to all the Murphy family on your sad loss. I have so many fond memories of Joe over the last 50 odd years and we had several memorable adventures together. His good cheer and unique sense of humour whenever we met and his annual call very Christmas will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Joe.
Joe and my dear late husband, Redmond (Dama), were good pals for many many years. Joe was great for keeping up that friendship and always made phone calls with birthday wishes and also New Year greetings for Redmond (Joe was one of the few people not to call him Dama!) I met Joe on many occasions and in the earlier years I remember that he often sported his Spanish bota bag. RIP Joe
To all Josephs’ family. Brothers, Sisters and extended family. We offer our heartfelt and sincere condolences. Joe has been a part of my life for very many years. A great and true friend. We have shared many an adventure together over that time. So too has Joe been a great friend and cheerful company to Irene. More recently our son Christopher has come to appreciate Joe’s charm and wit. We are all heartbroken at losing him. He will be sorely missed. And as Joe himself would have said. ‘Hugs for the deserving’. Much love. Mark, Irene and Christopher
Dave , sorry for the loss of your brother Joseph, may he now rest in peace .
I have known Joe for as long as I can remember, he was always charming & kind. Every time I met him I got a huge smile & hug. He was forever inquisitive & full of wonder for life. Though I didn’t see him often in later years I’ll miss that I won’t see that smile & hello again. He really was a gentleman & a scholar. Rest well Joe, you’ll be missed x
