Josephine Bennett
(née Carmody)

Thank you all so very much for your very kind words. It has amazed me how mum was so revered. She made a huge impact on your lives, in her community, in her parish, through progressive ecumenical endeavours and by simply being an inclusive and compassionate mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, parishioner and neighbour. May you all hold those memories of her very close to your heart.

Mum was very charitable, a humanitarian and strived to be fair and just. She was fiercely independent and enjoyed an intellectual debate. She enjoyed her travels immensely and I was really looking forward to seeing her in New Zealand in November and going on a road trip together.

Remember, you die twice. The second time being the last time someone remembers your name. Remember to think of her and all your lost loved ones.

Mum, may you rest in eternal and everlasting peace.

Sincere condolences to Josephine's family on her recent sudden death. Josephine was a member of the Parish Pastoral Council during my time in Rathmines, and she was always a very active and engaged parishioner with a warm and committed ecumenical outlook. I regret that I was unable to attend her funeral, owing to parish commitments, but I have remembered Josephine at Mass here in Brackenstown (Swords). May her Easter faith be fulfilled.

Josephine was 1 in a million and a true faithful servant of God who is now enjoying her eternal reward. I knew Josephine by volunteering with her at Rathmines Church. Always assured to have an interesting conversation and she was one of the kindest people I've ever known.

My deepest condolences to Josephine's family on her sudden passing. I had gotten to know her during my few years living in Rathmines and getting involved with the church community there. She was also one of the team from the parish who had been involved in supporting projects at Bukulamuli Health Centre in Uganda when I was working overseas when the Rathmines community fund raised to finish the maternity unit in a very remote part of Uganda. The light of heaven to her.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to the Bennett family at the sudden death of Josephine . Deirdre and I were shocked as I had shared the 11 00 am Sunday readings with Josephine . We sat beside each other at Mass the Sunday before Josephine died .
What a legacy Josephine has left with her steadfast loyalty and enormous contribution to the parish for all the years I can remember . Josephine will be deeply missed firstly by her children ,grandchildren and the whole family circle and finally by so many in the parish . I am very sorry we could not make it to the funeral as we are down in Tenerife . May Josephine rest in peace .
