My condolences to all of Josephine’s family . I only heard the sad news of her death this evening. Unfortunately I missed the funeral . In the past I had worked for Josephine she was always bright and cheerful although life had not dealt her a fair hand she never complained. We regularly went to mass she had tremendous faith . She had a wonderful kind nature always thinking of her family & friends. Rest In Peace Josephine you truly deserve a place in heaven🙏

From happy school days at Dooneen, Clifden to qualifying as a nurse at the Regional, Josephine was always a shining light. Shortly after qualifying as a nurse, Josephine suffered a major set back after an operation that defined her life from then onwards. However she never gave up. Now working at the switchboard and residing at the Nurses Home, I often called for a chat and a laugh. Family meant everything to Josephine. She regularly visited Clifden and Roundstone. And she was very proud of her family’s historic links during Ireland’s fight for Independence. Her great source of comfort the following years was the Irish Wheelchair Association and they were of enormous support always to the very end. I always enjoyed my visits to Josephine’s house. She was great company and a great listener. She loved the style and the latest news. A very spiritual person, she was devoted to the mass,the rosary and trips to Knock. She attended mass daily at the Abbey or the Cathedral. The last number of years her health began to decline but she never gave up. Comfort Care were ever so kind and helpful to Josephine’s needs. Her final stay in hospital was not easy but the medical staff were exceptional. The rosary was ever present in her thoughts those final days as she passed away peacefully on the Wednesday at 3 pm. Jo’s life will continue to be a guiding light and a source of comfort to all who knew her. Rest in peace Josephine. Maeve
