So sorry to hear of Joys passing . I worked under Joy in the early 90’s in the mater . She was an amazing boss it was only after I left did I appreciate how lovely , fair and compassionate joy was. She will be sorely missed .Rest in peace Joy

She was in her element when singing "Lily Marlene". Wonderfully joyous and entertaining. May she singing in the heavenly choir.

I was advised when looking for an Xray dept to work in back in '89 that the Mater was the right spot because Joy's reputation as a great boss preceeded her, I am still there now thanks to her welcome and kindness. Sincere condolences to Joys family and friends. I had the privilege of working in the Mater X-ray under her stewardship. She treated all of us with fairness and kindness and was always supportive of her staff. Her sense of fun especially at the annual Secret Santa party was legendary!! She entertained us on nights out and I particularly remember her rendition of “Lily Marlene “ as being fabulous! It was a Joy to have known her.

I had the pleasure of working with Joy in the Mater. In my role as an Infection control nurse following an audit in order for the xray department to carry out specific procedures a room required upgrade that cost 22 thousand pounds(it was the pound era)
Joy never let me forget that I cost her the amount even up to recent years when we met. I reminded her that she go a bargain !

I knew Joy from our schooldays in Muckross and I remember her clearly from the Gilbert &Sullivan operas where she had a principal role. I then met up with her again as a Choir member in Elm Park. The Riordan’s grandmother lived opposite my family on Belmont Avenue and we knew Joy and her siblings going in and out visiting their grandma. To Susie and the other members of the Riordan family I offer you my sincere sympathy. To her good friend Carmen thank you for letting me know of Joy’s death. May Joy RIP.
