I was so sad to hear of Joyce's passing—my heartfelt condolences to her family. I have many fond memories from our time in the Holy Family, mainly when we studied music in 5th and 6th year—not to mention playing with the YCS Choir. Joyce had such a wonderful sense of humor and was so fun to be around. All will miss her.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Ms. Ryan taught me piano and music. I thought she was just wonderful. She had a brilliant wit, a fierce intelligence and always she treated her students as equals. I remember her telling us on our first day in music class never to describe a piece of music as 'nice'. She always pushed us to be better.

She was an amazing inspirational brave woman and we had great tennis games and stuck up a lovely friendship over the past 5 years. Having known Joyce since the 1980s in Newbridge Community Band and later as a fellow member of the Chamber Choir, I can truly say Joyce was my friend! Her direct wit, warmth, and wealth of knowledge brought so much to our rehearsals and performances. No clapping or stamping of feet allowed!

I treasure the memory of singing with Joyce at the Christmas Eve Vigil only 8 weeks ago. It was a privilege to plan and share that occasion with her, and I will hold that memory close.
