J.P. Healy

I’m sorry to belatedly hear of J.P’s passing. He was my boss near the beginning of my teaching career and was very much a support during the two years I worked with him. He was an absolute gentleman and will always be remembered fondly. May he rest in peace.

I got to know J when we were both appointed school principals many years ago. He was a wonderful colleague at principals' meetings, calm, measured and possessed of a great sense of humour.

I was sad to hear of the passing of JP Healy, Principal during my time in Clonkeen College.
A real gentleman. 35 years on, I can still hear his voice - gentle but firm, with a slight Wexford lilt.
A lovely tribute today from his family at Foxrock Church - a simple, solemn service to celebrate a life well lived.

I had the great privilege of working with JP in Clonkeen College as a colleague for 27 years. He was very much loved, admired and respected by the whole school community. To me , he was an inspiring leader who dealt with all school matters in a calm and courteous manner. He had a wonderful ability to make everyone feel supported and valued. He was a true gentleman and his wry sense of humour and hilarious stories lightened many a busy day.

I spent from 1976 until his retirement under J , in his role first as Deputy Principal and then as Principal in Clonkeen College. It was a most enjoyable time . J was a gentleman, supportive and helpful at all times.
Always a smile on his face especially when recounting one of his great store of anecdotes. Thanks J for all those great times. Memories will live . Glad to be a fellow Gorey man. May you rest in peace with your beloved wife Mary.

Mr. Healy, was such a shining light in Clonkeen College, providing great inspiration to our class of 1982.

'Doc' Healy was a wonderful teacher who also looked out for students long after they left his school. A very kind man.

I was deeply saddened to learn of J's death. There was the Mr Healy of Clonkeen College of my youth, who was kind, decent and supportive, but also a headmaster not to be messed with; and there was my dear friend Frank's dad in later years who, as an adult, I came to know as an honorable, gentle and deeply kind and reflective man. I came to admire him greatly and held him in the highest regard for his integrity.  My sincere sympathy to Frank, Lorna, Anne-Marie and John, and the extended family, at this sad time.  His stories never seemed to end, with much mirth and merry chuckling, but a chance meeting outside SuperValu in Deansgrange, despite lasting longer than anticipated, was always a pick-me-up.  Deepest condolences to you all at this difficult time.

Sincere condolences to the Healy family on Mr Healy's passing. I was class of 1990 in Clonkeen so he was the principal (or "the Doc") for us from 2nd year onwards. He was always fair, and gave us plenty of strong talks when they were needed, but with the odd smile thrown in! May he rest in peace.

Condolences to Mr. Healys friends and family on his death. Knew him as 'The Doc' when I attended Clonkeen college. Strict, but very fair. Ran a good school.

Deepest sympathies to JP family. I taught with JP for 23 years and was always treated in an exceptionally gentlemanly fashion. He was dedicated to Clonkeen and all involved and gave of his best on all occasions. His sense of humour was always to the forefront.

It is with great sadness that I reflect on Jay’s passing. As my first boss when I started teaching in Clonkeen College I could not have had a better mentor and indeed friend. He was always full of advice and support and I also loved his sometimes wicked sense of humour. He was very much admired by my family who are also saddened by his passing. Since his retirement I always looked forward to meeting Jay at school functions for a catch up and a laugh.
