Judy Greene

My sympathies go to the family of the late Judy Greene, who inspired me greatly when I was a teenager; I have enjoyed using her pieces ever since. RIP

So sad to hear of Judy’s death. Mary and I have been collectors of Judy’s pottery for over 30 years. Any time I visited Galway the problem of bringing home a gift for my wife was solved with a visit to her shop. Condolences to all the family. May she rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of Judy's death. She came here to Galway such a long time ago and in what was a different age, a different Ireland. It wasn't long before she established herself and her vision into a growing town and brought with her new vision and colour. Her pottery was a real splash of something bright and something new. She was encouraging to so many people in both the Crafts and the Arts. She definitely was not afraid to give of herself her time and her generosity to many of us performers, crafts people and artists. The magical days of Quay St festivals and the many Free Children's Festivals she was so passionately involved in. Back in the days when Galway was awakening from what was a sizable country town into the vibrant multicultural place it is today.

Judy was a part of our"Aqua Babes" group who met twice a week in Ocean Fitness..what a warrior...she partook in our sessions despite all her struggles...we loved her...she brought such energy and warmth to our group.....forever in our thoughts and hearts Judy...

To Paul and Judy's boys and grandauther immediate family I was very sad to learn of Judy's untimely death.

Judy for me as a customer from the very start whose first shop on the corner was an oasis in those dark days with fuschias, bluebells hand painted on lamp base, plates large and small when you called in as she worked away on the wheel at the back of the shop .

I collected a number of her creations over the years that I still have , to small mice from left over clay which she created and shared with my sons many decades ago.
Now Judy's iconic Lamp shade and all her well know signatory pieces are now referred to as " A Judy Greene piece" and I can remember her chuckle of laughter at the idea.

As somebody who grew up around the corner from her shop in Mainguard Street in the 80s, I have great memories of her kindness and patience to us local kids. Many a free pottery class was provided by her to the boys and girls. She was always in good spirits and she will always be in my memory. RIP
