Julian, you were a gift in my life. Every day I noticed our incredible similarity, I remember every smile of yours.

I love you very much, I will remember this love all my life.

Thank you for being with me in the last months of your life, thank you for being my friend.

I miss you very much.

We met Julian on his trips to his family home in Castle Douglas when he came to stay with Helen. He was such a great person to chat to and his knowledge of birds was second to none. My biggest memory of him is of his gentle nature, a truly lovely man. Our thoughts are with Helen and Robin and the rest of his family and friends, he will be sadly missed by so many people. Rest in peace Julian.

Jules , What a shock , with your passing , watched live stream of cremation , with my partner Jan who knew you from, Easy Rider Record store , even before i,d met Jan { met up in 1979 and have been together ever since }/
We met up at school and became best friends before your in/famous 13th Birthday party.at Plewlands , Edinburgh.
remember we both skipped Chemistry last period / of day so we could get train to the Apollo Glasgow to see Roxy Music /Live c 1973 , First of hundreds of gigs over the years , 1+1 . 2+2
We couldn,t make it unfortunately as no passports .
I didnt sleep a wink last night , ( thinking about you *jules *) This insomnia
which was initially very frustrating became cathartic the longer it went on , songs playing in my mind .
the tributes made by Helen and Robin , echoed as if in a day dream . and Dave, your love for Jules obviously endures (what a tribute / and singing was lovely ) when I eventually had to get up and do work , I felt that you had kept your promise , Jules ,and visited , Us , for a last time .[ hopefully not ]

Love to all the people that loved Julian. He was one of the first people i ever met when i arrived to sherkin. We had a great time working together in the kitchen at the hotel. Plenty of Bird talk and always the life of the party. All my best sherkin memories have Jules in them. You will be very missed but never forgotten ❤️

A few days ago I spotted a Little Egret happily pecking the ground between the cows legs in the field below the Jolly and my first thought was "ring Jules"!

Deepest sympathy to Robin and Helen on the death of Julian. He was always so kind and helpful and will be very sorely missed. Julian was a wonderful naturalist. He had a passion for birdwatching and first came to Sherkin to our Marine Station in 2004 to record the bird life on the islands in Roaringwater Bay. Such was his enthusiasm, he also got involved in working with the other volunteers in identifying plants and insects. Julian was truly gifted and never happier than when he was out in the field with his binoculars. May he rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and the very tight net community of Sherkin Island, on the very sad and sudden loss of Julian. We have very fond memories with him when we would visit Sherkin, he had such a gentle kind nature about him which reflected on him with the love he had for he's birds and wildlife but also with the friendly way he was around people. My condolences to all Jules’ family and friends. He was the sweetest and most gentlest man I have ever known. I have fond memories of him teaching me about migrating birds up on Slievemore when he worked at the Marine Station. He was always so patient and kind. I hope you’re soaring high now Jules. To Robin, Helen and Jules' extended family I offer my condolences on his passing. I had the pleasure of Jules company everyday in 2006 while at Sherkin Island Marine Station. That summer the sun shone and we rambled across Sherkin and 10 other islands in Roaringwater Bay recording birds and rare plants. It was the most memorable summer of my life and Jules was a very kind, knowledgeable and funny companion! I will always remember him fondly. He was the type of person who made a lasting impression on you. May his very gentle soul rest in peace.
