Karen Conway

A radiant spirit whose shining light was extinguished far too soon. Fiercely loyal, enigmatic and with a wicked sense of humour, Karen looked at life differently. She was subtle, so even when making observations, she'd somehow turn something tragic, mundane, or ordinary into a ridiculous “laugh out loud moment” of life and humanity. We, as a group, can truly say we never heard a bad word from her. Her deadpan tone of voice and her soft dark compassionate eyes often sparkled with mischief in equal measure. She was an old Soul.

To have lived with Karen and spent time in her company was as rewarding as it was fun. She was fey and mischievous… each of us have stories, which for legal reasons (and under advice from our lawyers) we're unable to tell. We first fell under her spell sharing cramped college accommodation, later living with her as students in the US or working in the UK. Amongst the most cherished moments and experiences of our lives. A night out with Karen was an adventure, a mystery tour and rollercoaster ride all rolled into one!! She had that knack of finding the unusual and brought out the funny and unusual in those she met. Her beauty, sense of humour and adventure opened doors to escapades we wouldn’t have risked ourselves.

A light has gone out in our lives, things are dimmer now she has gone but we take solace in knowing, were circumstances different, she would be the one with a witty quip to lift our spirits. We will always carry that with us.

Dear Dan and all of the Conway family,

My heart breaks for you all but words just seem to fail at times like this. There is nothing that can be written that makes any sense of Karen's sudden departure from this world. But I do know that Karen was an utterly unique and special human being, and that she spread love and happiness and humour and joy wherever she went, and to everyone who was privileged to know her. She is deeply missed...

This tragic and sad passing of such a fine Lady, Karen, has left No Words that can express the loss of our dear friend. My heartfelt condolences pour out to her Dear Husband Dan and the Abrams family here, and to her Dad and the lovely Conroy family back home in Ireland.
Karen and I had a special relationship, both being Karen’s; I called her KC. Remembering all our adventures, parties and the weekly Taco Tuesday dinners will give reason to celebrate KC’s wit, humor, intelligence
and cuteness forever.
Karen is with her Mom now and waiting for us to join them in everlasting Peace.

Karen (and Dan) changed ny life in so many positive ways. They saved me in every way a persom could be saved. I have over a decade of memories, laughing, some tears and many many special moments i will forever cherish. Life itself has lost a bit of its luster with Katens passing. We are all better for having had her in our lives. I know you've found true eternal peace now. I'll see you 9m the other side, save me a good seat next to you so i can continue to laugh at your quips and wise cracks for all eternity.

Dan, Donie, Marie, Joe,Ger, Maurice, Mark and all Karen's extended family we are so saddened by Karen's passing. She was fun, sharp-witted, entertaining and a great friend. Having been in a house in college with her and a special bunch of people, I went on to share house in London with Karen for a time when I had few other options. Karen looked out for me starting off in London and I'll always appreciate that. She was special and we miss her dearly. Sincerest condolences to you all. May she reset in peace.
