Karl was an amazing man that i was blessed to know all of my life. He played the guitar beautifully and expressed his amazing spirit through his music.
I love you Karl.
I love you Karl.
We were devastated at the loss of Karl. Over the years of our re-connection with Kay and family we had gradually grown to learn of a beautiful, kind and wonderful man. He and Kay were so supportive of our son's budding musicianship and we will never forget that.
All our love goes to Kay and family, and we know that Karl's impact and influence, as evidenced by all the people he touched, will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. xxx

Kay and family. I'm so sad today, to learn of Karl's death. Karl left those who knew him with happy thoughts. Karl was a man of God, he had a strong devotion to Jeaus that was apparent when you were in his presence. He loved Jesus and he loved his family. It is my pleasure to have known him. After losing Mike 2 years ago, after 37 years, my deepest thoughts and prayers are with you, Kay. May eternal rest be granted to Karl's soul.
Praying for all of you friend.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Karl’s passing .
Over the two years that I worked with Karl he taught me so much.
I truly don’t know anyone who will ever be able to be the mentor that he was to me.
Karl will be greatly missed but he will certainly never be forgotten.

I was truly heartbroken when I heard that Karl had passed away. I played & directed handbells with Karl & he gave me good advice that I follow to this day. Mass with Karl was fun, especially when something unexpected happened and we got the giggles. I think of him often when we sing the "Lamb of God" because I hear Karl saying "Jesus Slamb of God," which always got a chuckle. He would sit down at the piano & play "Linus & Lucy" & everyone would say it was great, & he'd say, "Thanks, that's all I can play," lol. I will never forget him playing O Holy Night with the handbells one Christmas, it was absolutely beautiful! I could listen to him play his guitar all day! One afternoon after school, there was a tornado that actually touched down not far from us. We had about 180 kids after school, Karl came to be with his kids, and led everyone in saying the rosary because he knew it would calm them. He wrote some good music, especially a Lenten Gospel Acclamation that is still used (and I often hum it). Karl was such a talented musician, but he couldn't play handbells! We laughed that he didn't have the hand-eye coordination to play them. I am blessed to have called Karl a friend & I will cherish these memories always!
Dear Kay,
I will be keeping you and Karl in my thoughts and hold you in my heart. Please accept my condolences during these difficult times.

My deepest condolence to kay and family on the passing of Karl. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, a gentleman always . May he rest in peace 🙏.
It is with great sadness that I learned, from Kay, that Karl had passed away.
Karl was remarkable person and was a pillar of support for me and my colleagues in helping us to take an important psychological concept to a world that needed it. Indeed he was an "early adopter" when others were still hesitant. This requires courage.
I knew him as a colleague and practitioner. It was with amazement that I read his obituary and realised just what a full and splendid life he had led.
One experience we did share, unwillingly, was that we both had been diagnosed with Cancer. This did create another bond.
Ultimately I will always remember a very generous man. Someone who was open to ideas and always learning.

Rest well my friend.

Dear Kay, at this time of loss I hope you can find some comfort in all what you’ve done for your sweet Karl during these years of illness. You’ve been a wonderful carer to him, a gentle presence and his strongest advocate. I know you’ll miss him forever, but I hope you'll find some comfort in all the good memories of him that you’ll forever hold in your heart. Although we are apart in miles, we are together always in heart and spirit specially at this difficult time.
May your Karl rest in peace.
Much much love to you and your family,

Sincere condolences to Kay, William, Kathryn and Mark on the passing of Karl. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
My deepest sympathies to you all at this sad time. My experience of Karl was of a man with immense strength, resolve and humour in the face of terrible adversity. I will miss speaking with him. May he rest in peace.
It was a privilege to know Karl. He contributed in so many ways and the world was better for his presence. His commitment to life and others was reflected as much in the way he lived as in the way he lived with his disease. Supported by the loving presence of Kay he lived through the experience rather than being dominated by it. While so sad to hear of his passing that he did so in the loving arms of his family was comforting to know. Our thoughts are with you all and our memories of Karl will sustain. Our love David and Diana

We all as a family wish to express our deepest condolences and pray that his soul may rest in peace and happiness beyond the reality that we are familiar to.
From the little I ‘ve met you I had the chance to realise that his heart was so loving and felt the kind of connection that only siblings can feel… this gave my the exiting hope that we as human beings should have strong faith that we are like one and all our prayers and actions can affect each other even from a distance.
Thank you! May you enjoy the loving light of God’s face …

I am so sorry to hear of Karl’s passing. I was lucky to get to sing under his direction at St. Ann’s Church in Bartlett, TN. Karl and I would regularly pass laughing glances at each other when he was directing. I was never sure if everyone in the choir caught his lifted eyebrow and other funny facial expressions or expectant looks when parishioners would turn pages in their Missalettes. Karl and I would look at each other and wait for the fluh fluh fluh of pages turning and we smiled at all the noise they made. I still am very careful to turn pages quietly in Church. I listen for the fluh fluh fluh and think of Karl and smile to myself. I was so sorry when he left but happy that he got to live out his life in Ireland with his sweet family. He also gave my son guitar lessons which I was always amazed at how much he learned from Karl. Thank you Kay for your beautiful Tribute to Karl on Facebook.
I’m so sorry to hear about Karl’s passing. As you have described it to me, he faced this cancer with tremendous resilience and courage. And you articulate the last evening with him so beautifully. His spirit is with you and we eagerly await the coming of God’s new creation and the resurrection of the dead… new bodies with no more sickness, pain or death. May God’s Spirit be your comfort and strength in these sad days as you grieve his passing and celebrate his wonderful life.

Not unlike the inexorable pull of the moon upon the waters, Karl will always be a force that draws us ever closer to eternity. The light in a dark place, never peering backward but always looking forward. He is our guide, a sentinel, not guarding the way but protecting us along the way. Thank you, Karl.
