We were so sorry to hear this sad news. We would have been there had we known. Our own Dear Mother Mary (Walker) RIP loved the Vaughans they always kept in contact and had many stories to tell of their childhood days in Newcastle West. I (Olive)went with her to Kathy's house one evening. We had a wonderful time in her beautiful home with all her sisters, brother and some of their families. Her whiskey cake is one to remember.
We know your loss and pain as our Mother passed away last December RIP.
It is a very sad & lonely time.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Kate. She was such a beautiful lady and I loved to see her call out to me at work and have the long chats and she would fill me in about what she was doing in the garden. To my dear Family , I send you my sincere condolences . Aunt Kate was a Woman of Substance, one of a kind, a Woman to be admired.We have been told stories our whole lives about The Vaughan’s , they truly loved to get back together on the trips Home . I will cherish the 3 weeks I spent with them in Ireland , it was fun watching how much they love being together. Aunt Kate always hosted a feast as only Aunt Kate could. Aunt Kate you and Ted opened your house and Ireland to me when I came for an extended visit when I was 18, especially The Burren. I travelled all over the Wild Atlantic Way with you two. And you opened your house to me whenever I came after that, as well. I will miss you and sitting in the kitchen or your garden, having tea and that incredible Irish soda bread and talking for hours with you and Ted about your love and knowledge of Ireland. You were always so warm and welcoming. May you rest in peace. I'll see you down the road.

Kathy, it is with great sadness that I heard of your mom’s passing, what a lady, all the lovely encounters I had with her while in Castleconnell. She always said that once I moved to Ballinacurra, she would start me up with a few slips from her garden, such an interest she had for it.
