Kathleen took me under her wing when I started my midwifery training in the antenatal ward in Holles Street. She always looked out for me and tried to keep me out of trouble! Being from over the road in West Cork it was reassuring to have her there. She was a wonderful teacher and role model. I have lovely memories of her teaching me how to use the pinard and passing on many midwifery skills that have stayed with me throughout my career. We enjoyed our little catchups as we moved to different parts of the hospital. I feel very fortunate to have known and learned from her.
She will be fondly remembered as a true lady and a gentle person.
