I never knew Mrs Donlon when she was a teacher in Daingean. Although I have often heard her spoken very highly of. With people recalling her part in John B Keane,s play Sive , when it was performed on the town hall stage.
Mrs Donlon also lodged with my late Aunt, Mrs Brock a former teacher during her stay in Daingean.

She organised many events for us over the years-enjoyable day trips, informative talks and celebratory meals. Deeply saddened to learn of Josie's passing. She was quite an amazing lady involved in so much within the community, she quite literally gave it her all to the benefit of everyone. She was a wonderful teacher in Daingean and Killyon and in each school she was so positive and progressive leaving an indelible mark and remembered very fondly by her students.
Her brilliant mind enhanced through her vitality and community consciousness made her a tireless champion, she did things because she truly believed that they needed to be done, nothing more nothing less, that was Josie. All those privileged to know Josie knew they had a genuine friend, a bright beacon whose light will continue shine and a legacy that will benefit her beloved family, community and Church.
