Dear Forster cousins, we are sorry to hear of Aunt Kathleen's death - Bruce and I remember her gracious hospitality when we stayed at Sharvogue the year we lived in England (1965-66) and again when we visited for an evening in the winter of 2007. In 1985, a few years after my father's death, my mother and I visited Ireland and were graciously hosted by Aunt Kathleen. A year later, I stayed over in Sharvogue with our daughters, Lindsey and Ashley , again being well looked after by your mother, and also, of course, by John.
As you know, as children, we visited from Canada in 1952. Dad had not seen any of his family since he left Dublin by boat for Canada in 1921, your father having waved him away from the dockside so it was a great occasion for family on both sides of the Atlantic. I believe that most of the time we were in Ireland we stayed at Sharvogue. The arrival, and lengthy stay of our father and mother and four boisterous youngsters, (ages 2-11) however much this was looked forward to , would have tested the patience of Job, or in your mother's case a 'Jobess?'. It was a wonderful and exciting experience for all of us, primarily because we were so graciously welcomed and hosted. These are the memories we will keep in our hearts.
Aunt Kathleen's death is significant for all of us here in Canada - our last contact with our father's family of origin has passed on. We hope our memories and those of your own will bring you solace and peace.
Sincerely, Sharon and Bruce on behalf of our family
