She never forgot our birthdays, Easter, Christmas. We use to love hanging over the half door before she’d let us in, or hear the click of grandads gate knowing she was visiting. Kathleen was always over the half door keeping an eye on us. She was like a second mother to us all and she would even give us a telling off when necessary. When I had my own family, Kathleen never forgot their birthday or special occasion. She knitted some wonderful items for the children and they all have fond memories of going to visit Kathleen.
Kathleen, you have now gone to your eternal reward. Rest in peace.

I have very fond memories of Kathleen in the old library from when I was very young. She was a great friend of my grandad Dinny and granny Sybil through Fianna Fail and the town. Esmonde Street will be a very different place without the lady leaning over the stable door.

I was so sorry to hear of Kathleen’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with her in the library , and I’ll always remember her great sense of humour and love of a chat. She was a warm, familiar face on Esmonde Street, always at the half door with kind word and a little chocolate bar for my children – and later, my grandchild.

She brought joy to so many and will be fondly remembered. My heartfelt condolences to all her family at this sad time.
