My condolences to Cormac and family. I have many memories of Kathleen from my childhood. My grandparents (Patrick and Chris Concagh) stayed at Mac’s on their visits home to Glan with me in tow occasionally and I even pulled my first pint there. Kathleen was always there looking pristine and enjoying the craic. May she rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Kathleen in Mac’s famous singing lounge in the mid-80s, as well as in her lovely fashion boutique. Her bright warm gentle personality & wonderful business acumen were lessons not found in any book and a joy to behold.

She gave me my first summer job where I was introduced to Kathleen’s business acumen, which stood me in good stead many a time since … so many memories of Mac’s which was such an active hub every weekend.. made friends and met so many there (including bands that stayed after playing Sound of Music ) .. certainly many memorable times … A lady of great principle and business ethic.. God rest her soul.

After Dermot's untimely death Kathleen started calling and what a pleasure it was to deal with her. She was a perfect lady. I am genuinely sorry to hear of her death. R.I.P Kathleen.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Kathleen McDermott (née Naughton).

A wave of nostalgia swept over me as I began to look back at all the memorable night my friends and I spent in MacDermott's Singing Lounge in Glenamaddy listening to the Merry Mac's Band performing their repotoir with Seán Melvin, Michéal Lennon, R.I.P. and with Andy Burke R.I.P. singing and yodeling my favourite song of all time, "Hearing My Cattle Call."
Those were nights that my friends and I will sadly never see or hear of again.

MacDermott's was the in place to be in Glenamaddy at that time, and did we make the best of it.

Dermot and Kathleen were wonderful hosts and MacDermott's Singing Lounge used to remind me of a "speak-easy" in the "Roaring 20's" during prohibition before the music got underway, but when Seán Melvin got the "revs" up on that organ, prohibition went completely out the window.
Fond memories indeed.

I wish to express my most sincere condolences to Kathleen's son, Cormac MacDermott, to his good wife Erin and their family, and indeed, to the entire Naughton family who are too numerous to mention here.

May Kathleen's kind and gentle soul forever rest in peace. 😢

Their pub was a great place to go in to, many a night I had singing in it with the late Andy Burke and Míchéal Lennon along with Sean Melvin. They were great times. We had some great nights. Kathleen & Dermot were always a pleasure to go in to. They were great old times, I don't think we will have them anymore. Kathleen will be sorely missed in Glenamaddy.
