The passing of Kathleen is a momentum event for Karen, Niamh, Sean, Mark and Niall and my brothers Michael and Bartley join in offering our sincere sympathy on the passing of a mother - and a wonderful Lady.

Her passing is also a significant event for our family on two fronts.

Firstly, Kathleen is the absolute last link with my patents generation.

But secondly and more significantly, she and David were very significant figures in our family life, especially when we were younger, when Kathleen and David were in their prime and living in Ballintemple, to where we also moved in 1963.

My mother, Hannie Kearney (nee Cadogan) was like David and Kathleen from Bantry. She knew David from childhood and held him throughout his entire life in a special place of enduring affection.

Our parents - Batt and Hannie - were 20’ish years older than David & Kathleen, but were also older parents to a family - me and my brothers - who were similar in age to the O’Mahony’s kids.

In my mother’s eyes, David - the engineer- was wise in all things and many important decisions effecting our affairs had to be run by David before they were ‘signed off’.

All our lives have moved on and have taken different paths, but our warmest thoughts and affection are with the memory of David and Kathleen and all the happy memories we shared.

Kathleen was a Wonderful Lady married to a Great Man, who loved each other unconditionally and are now reunited.

May she Rest in Peace.
