I am truly devastated to have just heard the sad news of the death of my beautiful and beloved friend Kathy. Kathy was a truly unique and very special woman. She was such a wonderful and inspirational colleague to all of us who worked with her in Early Childhood Education over the years.
But on a much more personal note I remember so clearly how we clicked from the moment we met in the early 2000’s at All Hallows’ College on HighScope training, which marked the beginning of a friendship which lasted for the next two decades. Kathy was so endearing and so easy to love. Her greatest gift was her unending humanity and compassion and ability to make room in her heart for everyone in her life. Naive and wise, strong and vulnerable, sometimes sad but always funny in equal measure.
I will miss her immeasurably and infinitely. All the love, the laughs, the fears and the tears - we shared it all. Nothing left unsaid. Except for a final farewell dearest friend.
I share my deepest condolences with her beloved family and also a few lines of comfort she once shared with me, by John O’Donoghue:

My deepest sympathy to Emma, Daniel, Oisín, Elle, Alex, Annie Bee, Carol and Kathy's extended family and friends. Kathy was a truly beautiful, kind, generous, loving and sincere person. She was deeply passionate about her work in Early Childhood Education and was a gifted teacher who always wanted to search wider and deeper for knowledge. She loved her children and grandchildren above all and carried them daily in her heart wherever she was and whatever she was doing. She was a loyal friend and I will miss her warm and affectionate messages. I was so lucky to have Kathy as my friend. She just brought out the best in us all I think and our lives will have a space in them now that can never be filled but listening to Joni Mitchell will be my route to keeping Kathy's spirit talking. I’m so, so sorry for your loss. I never met her but she sounds like an amazing lady. I’m sure that she will be sorely missed. Emma, Daniel and Oisin I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother. I will always remember the kindness and compassion, she showed me when I was lonely, and I needed someone to talk to. I will cherish the lovely moments I shared with her, numerous chats, wonderful home cooked food and her warm smile. Kathy, thank you for the precious memories

Such very sad news. Kathy was a beautiful woman: strong, funny, kind-hearted and always a supportive friend. Many years ago, near Cootehall, we shared treasured time together with our young children. So saddened to learn of Kathy's passing. She was always so full of life and so positive anytime we met. She was a beautiful person. Our deepest condolences to all her family.

Sincere sympathy to Emma, Daniel Oisín, families & friends on the "passing" of dear Kathy. We lived across from Kathy for many years until she moved to Ballisodare.
When out twins Tomás & Seán were born 31 yrs ago, Kathy came over when they were just past their "early months" once a week. Her "smiling face" would appear on a Tuesday morning & that hour away from the boys was such a great help to me as a mum of "double trouble". I thank Kathy for "being there" for me.Kathy took great pride in her beautiful home & enchanting garden both of which she nurtured.in an idilyic setting.
Kathy was very much an academic & was passionate about her work.Kathy achieved a lot in her personal interests also & the aromas from her kitchen could vary from waxes as oriental in colour as was in the spices she used in her coking with ingredients that came from her garden. She loved nature & reflected same in the colours she wore.Kathy was very accomplished in her lifestyle but even though "we didn't live in each others pockets" I knew she was there for me & I hope she felt the same about our family.
Kathy passed "Cox's Cross today for the last time, Unfortunately I wasn't there because of work but Tom & our neighbours were there. I hope Emma, Daniel and Oisín & families take some solace from how much Kathy loved them & how " highly regarded" she was by her neighbours & friends in Corrigeenroe.
I am certain Kathy is at peace now in her "garden in the sky".
