We were so very saddened to hear of the loss of Katie after a long and hard battle with cancer.

It was an honour and privilege to get to know Katie over the past 12 months. All she ever asked in that time was that we mind her babies and look out for them in school. We will always remember Katie with her bright, beautiful smile and unwavering positivity. I've no doubt Hannah and Shane will grow up to be so proud of how their mammy handled this difficult time with such dignity, and they will never doubt how much she loved them. To Colly, Nora, Pat, John and all Katie's family and friends, you did her proud today. Her final send off was beautiful.

I only struck up a friendship with katie recently as we are both young mothers from leixlip fighting this awful disease .. i found great comfort from our words back and forth over the past couple of months... she really was a fighter and was doing everything in her power to stay and see her babies hannah and shane grow up. Im similar to katie and im fighting hard for the same reason. Colly, hannah, shane, pat, nora and john your all in my thoughts she is with always and forever Xx

Katie became my Caoimhnoir when I first joined secondary school in 2013. She used to call us her little babies as she had never had her own class before. From 1st-6th year she was like a second mammy, you could laugh,cry and get a good scolding when needed! When I left school, I was not sad to leave behind the exams or the studying, but I was sad to see my time with Ms. O’Neill end, we took a picture together on grad night, that I will forever hold dearly. I send all my love to Katie’s little babies, family and friends. Her little babies carry 50% of Katie’s DNA. So in some ways she is still with us, living through them, her love and passion will shine through as they grow . RIP my second mammy Katie x
