Dear Brideen & family, sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved Mum. Kay was always a polite but formidable player. May her soul rest in peace.
To all Kay's family my deepest sympathy on her passing. She was a great friend to my parents Conor and Nell Foley and will be remembered fondly by our family
Kay did all my secretarial work in Leo Laboratories in the production department in 1971-73 and we subsequently met many times on the bridge circuit. She was good humoured, highly efficient with a bubbly personality and great company on all occasions alone or with Dermot. Condolences to all the family.
So sorry to hear about Kay’s passing. To call her a stalwart of Irish bridge just seems way too inadequate. When I started my senior international career Kay was an ever present at every single European or world championship. The IBU had very little funds and Kay volunteered at every event. She spent countless hours sitting behind me meticulously recording every bid and every card played for many years until recording got a little bit more 21st centuty. I can still see her with tears streaming down her face when the Irish open team won the silver medal at the 2006 European championships, she deserved a medal as much as any of us, her support never stopped , her infectious enthusiasm never waned.

So sorry for not being in Ireland to pay my respects but my deepest sympathy to all her loving family.

May she rest in peace.

Sincere sympathies to Brideen, Maeve, Aine and the extended family on Kay’s death. She was a dynamic force in Bridge in Ireland and the Regent Bridge Club and gathered friends across Europe who always enquired about her. I am very proud to have counted her a friend for more than 50 years and am sure she is now reunited with her beloved Dermot updating him on all that he has missed (not that he is getting a word in). We will miss her – may she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Brideen, Maeve, Áine, Hugh, Niamh and the extended Downes Dynasty on the passing of Ireland's 'Mrs. Bridge'. Those of us who had the pleasure to know Kay in her heyday remember her as a driving force in Bridge at club, regional, national and international level. Kay had great vision and promoted Bridge in Ireland wherever she went. She called a 'spade a spade' so you always knew where you stood but she was a loyal, caring and generous friend to those of us who could see her softer side. Irish bridge owes Kay a great debt of gratitude. May she Rest in Peace.

Condolences to Brideen, Maeve, Áine and extended family, especially bridge players Niamh and Hugh. Let us not mourn but be happy to have known that full-of-life personality who enhanced the lives of those who crossed her path. A popular ambassador for this country when a delegate to the European Bridge League, on occasions while awaiting her arrival at a venue abroad we were met with the many-times-asked question: Where is Kay? Held in high esteem then, she is missed now.
I heard this news with great sadness, though it brought back many fond memories of Kay, who was a grandee of the Irish bridge scene for many, many years; as, indeed, are many of her family after her. Sincere condolences to all her family for their loss. RIP Kay.
So sorry to hear of Kay's death. May she rest in peace. I served on many committees with Kay over the years. She was a formidable person to have on committee and brought up many a question which some of us were afraid to ask. Sympathy to Brideen and sisters, also Hugh and Niamh.
