John and family. I was deeply saddened to hear of Kay's death RIP. I had a quick chat with her at the DYOP coffee morning earlier in the Summer. You are all in my prayers especially you John.

Dear Uncle John and family, our sincere condolences on the passing way of Auntie Kay, she is very fondly remembered.

I was very sad to hear of Kay’s passing. I remember the day she walked into the classroom with a bucket full of recorders with a clear love of music and the patience of a saint, and have such fond memories of learning HMS Pinafore as part of an ensemble crammed into her house, and all the evenings and weekends at competitions as a soloist, part of a trio or quartet. She gave me a gift that has lasted long beyond her years of teaching. She always had a smile on her face and was so kind. My condolences to John and the whole family. She has been a treasure to so many of us in Ballyroan.

I was sorry to hear Mrs O Brien has passed away. I remember her in Pinewood Park. She was always smiling!

Sincere sympathies to the O’Brien family on the passing of Kay. I was very lucky to be guided in my love of music by Kay in Ballyroan and that gift endures to this day. Thinking of you all.

Dear Julie and all the O’Brien family I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs O’Brien. I enjoyed many years of recorder lessons with her and was so happy when she let me get a treble recorder and adjusted the music to suit my small hands !! Her home was always welcoming and I hope she enjoyed many happy years with her grandchildren and passed on some of her musical talent . May she rest in peace now, Laura.

I have very happy memories of learning recorder with Mrs O' Brien, especially when she had a full orchestra of recorders playing Whistling Rufus at the Feile Bride and blew away the judges!

I’m so sorry to hear about Kay’s passing. I vividly remember my first encounter with her in third class in Scoil Naomh Padraig over 35 years ago. Her gentle nature , passion for music and patience gave me a love of recorder music - from duets , trios , ensembles and beyond! She was an incredible person and I’m indebted to her for instilling such a love of music in me.

I was so sad to hear of Kay's passing. I have such fond memories of her teaching me recorder & playing happily away ensemble in her house. I will forever be indebted to the privileged introduction she gave me to music which sparked a lifelong hobby. I have no doubt she touched many in this way.

To John, Kevin, Moira, Lucy, Matthew & the whole extended O'Brien family, Kay was a lovely friendly woman who I always enjoyed chatting with at family gatherings. She was fantastic at sending cards in both happy & sad times. I always was thankful to see her beautiful handwriting on an envelope and to read her cards. Such a kind thing to do. It is with great sadness I heard of Kay’s passing and I send my deepest condolences to her husband John, her children and all the O’Brien family at this very difficult time.
