I am very sorry to hear of Ken's passing. My sincere sympathy to the Barrett family and to Ken's
loyal colleague Helen. Ken was a hard worker and was born to be a butcher. He had great love,
stamina, hand eye co-ordination for the butchery trade. He topped it all off with his great sense of
humour wit, crack and cheery banter.
The Market will not be the same about him.

This morning I read with great sadness that Ken had passed away. On my annual visits to Cork, I would always drop in on Ken’s stall for a chat, and a wind up. The slagging was great - I would ask for a rump steak (he never called it rump!), or chicken, or fish (which, of course, he didn’t sell). Under a gruff exterior laid a sensitive heart of gold. I could discuss anything with Ken, and get advice about things that troubled me - and I left feeling more content, that perhaps, things weren’t so bad after all!
I will miss your wit and wisdom, Ken.
