Ken BRODERICK

Very sorry to see another old St. Peter's College boy hit the deck. We were classmates up to 1961. While Ken had no opportunity to display his rugby talents on the lay-side where rugby and soccer were banned, he made his impact by playing amusing tricks on teachers and distinguished himself in debating. We both developed our future lecturing skills in debating, and Ken was sometimes courageous enough to refute his cherished conservative law-and-order views and find comfort arguing an alternative perspective. As a day-boy, he had better access to more and better information, and whichever side he argued, he was always a charming "Mr. Cool."

Sincere sympathy to all who mourn the passing of Ken. I have very fond memories of Ken in the late '60's when he was my Art teacher in the Vocational School in Tullow St before he moved to the RTC. As impressionable young teenagers, many of us had a 'crush' on this handsome, well spoken, mannerly gentleman, who seemed to lap it all up with his mischievous smile. Whenever we briefly met over the years we would laugh at the memory. Rest peacefully Ken.
