I cannot believe that I have to refer to Ken as ‘was’. He was taken too early, far too early.
He was the best of humanity and a fantastic example of a modern man.
He was honourable, discreet, disciplined, distinguished, intelligent, kind, funny a pure gentleman and so much more.
He was my cousin and he was my friend. He was simply the best!

About 2 years ago he informed me he was not well. We decided we would meet up when i would be in Carlow again. Sadly it never happened. He will be missed. Ken was one of those good men. He could fill a room with his presence but was no attention seeker, more known for his kindness than most. So many fond memories come flooding back: my first ever live concert; Horslips played Dreamland in Athy. I was spellbound.
With these memories, comes a shroud of sadness in his wake. However, we cannot but smile as we recall his good humour and that knack he had of making people feel good about themselves.
Sincere and heartfelt condolences go to Trish and Sarah, Derek, Ray & grandchildren on this huge loss - you are all his living legacy and we wish you all lots of strength to cope.

Sincere sympathy to the Broughall family on the passing of brother Ken. Thanks to Ken’s efforts in getting Teddy Bears to me here in Cork, more little children than we can ever imagine were, and still are, given reason to smile.
