On behalf of YMCA Hockey club, I’d like to pass on my condolences to Cecilie, Tanya and Stuart on the recent passing of Ken. Ken was a long-time member of YM, as was Stuart and his grandsons Adam and Zac after him. Ken played with YM in the 1950s and 60s and was a member of the YM team that won the Irish Senior Cup in 1965.

Ken actually lost his ’65 medal in a house move a few years back, and with some help from old friends in YM and with the permission of Hockey Ireland, a replacement medal was struck and presented to a delighted Ken by Stuart just this past summer.

Rest peacefully Ken.

Ken was enormously respected for his many years as a leading light in the insurance industry and hugely popular for his times on the hockey pitch, golf course and stalwart of whatever fun was around often late into the night. He will be truly missed by all but particularly by his loving family of whom he was very proud

Dearest Cecile, Stewart and Tanya, I am deeply saddened to hear of Ken's death. He was such a gentle man. Will always remember your kindness to Sean and I allowing us start our adventure in Tara Cove. Also his cheerful arrival each year to play the Adult and Child golf competition with one or other of his grandsons, of whom he was immensely proud.
I know Mum held Ken in very high regard also. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
