I passed through the ISK in 1997. Kevin loved to see such a young teacher arriving on the scene - the jokes, stories and rhymes rolled effortlessly.

The following year back in Dublin a bundle of mock exam scripts landed my way - it was from the ISK and it was Kevin's history class. The A grades flowed faster than the jokes had done.

But my abiding memory was spending a free period with Kevin in the gym. We raced up and down for half an hour and, being more than half his age, I had the advantage. But I experienced his relentless determination as I tired, but he edged closer and closer each time.

Kevin was a kind and generous soul who loved life, people, humour, knowledge and sport. He could brighten up any dull day, lift any weary spirit, with a single comment. Twenty three years later I can still hear his voice and his jokes … still fondly remember sharing his company and having the privilege of overhearing him teach, if only for a few short months. It was a pleasure, and extreme good fortune, to have ever met him.

Sincere sympathy to all the Griffin family on a great loss. Enjoyed many a kick around with Kevin after school in the track, always gave his complete being to every outing , but he was always a great listener and such happy memories. His image will forever run in the beach in Ross.
