Kevin McCann wasn’t just the best engineer I ever met — he was my best friend.
His mind was something else. The way he could look at a problem, strip it back, and quietly work through it until it made sense — that was a gift. But what made him truly special wasn’t just his skill, it was his character. He was steady, loyal, and generous with his time and knowledge. If you needed help, Kevin was there. No fuss, no ego — just solid, dependable brilliance.
I learned so much from him, not only about thinking the job through, but about patience, integrity, and doing things properly. He took pride in his work, and that pride showed in everything he touched.
But more than anything, Kevin was devoted to his family. The love and pride he had for them was clear in the way he spoke about them and in everything he did. They were his greatest achievement and his greatest joy.
My heart goes out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss they carry is beyond words, but so too is the love and respect so many of us have for him.
Losing him leaves a space that can’t be filled. I’ll miss the conversations, the laughs, the advice, and just knowing he was there.
Rest easy, Kevin. The best engineer I ever met — and an even better friend.
Now go and have yourself a pint with Joey Dunlop you deserve it x
