I am deeply saddened to hear of Kevin's passing, my thoughts and prayers to Mary & family.

Kevin & I shared a great deal of time together, we spent much of that time in heated debate as to the rights and wrongs of Weston Villa.
To have not had the odd debate with Kevin was to not know him.

While we frequently bickered, we also developed a fantastic relationship & a truly meaningful friendship.
We could upset each other, and we did, often. He would tell me “if you don’t pipe down I will show my family the texts you sent me 6 years ago” and say I wouldn't be able to call to the house any more LOL.
I was 2 years at the club before he would allow me to line the pitch, every time it was checked (which was every time), it was wrong.

For me Kevin's life, certainly in the time I knew him, exuded a deep love of family and community. His desire to have the best facilities for the young and old in Our Lady of Lourdes was a big motivation.
I was privileged to hear him express the great pride he felt at the many accomplishments of his children & grandchildren & the love & gratitude he felt for his wife Mary.
He loved to regale me with stories of the Jiving scene and when put to him that I could not understand why poor Mary put up with him, he would drop the shoulder and bust moves worthy of an audience followed by the comment "shur how could Mary have said no to a man with moves like these".

God bless Kev and thanks for your friendship, you will be sorely missed.

From all the lads at Northside we thank Kevin for his help over the years. There would be no Northside was it not for the guidance and support he provided. Kevin used to let us borrow his pitch liner and we used to give him the loan of our lawnmower to cut the field (Cals Park) to a better level following the council giving it an initial cut_ On one occasion his wife made all the lads sausages sandwiches, and brought over flasks of tea as we helped him get the field ready. One in a million - the Great, Kevin ODwyer.

Larger then life- unique, kind, decent, honourable individual whom I got to know quite well over the years -

A friend to me and to so many others - as he strived to help local soccer team’s and his beloved Weston Villa- My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time. Kevin ODwyer has left a legacy and will always be remembered by those that knew him - as a Limerick Legend. Rest easy champ ❤️
