Kevin Walsh was a musical genius, of that there is no doubt. I think I met him about 20 years ago, and was awed and humbled by his musical gifts. He had the rare gift of being able to sight read ANYTHING you put in front of him, but also being able to busk whatever you needed. That is a talent very, very few have. Kevin, we will all miss you so much. Your wicked sense of humour, sarcasm (when needed), ability for double entendres, wit, kindness and passion will never be replaced. You brought so much to everything you did. You could arrange, you could play, you encouraged and were so kind and gentle. I will miss you so much. I always thought we’d catch up again soon, but I guess not. Rest in peace now, a peace you have long desired. Huge condolences to the entire Walsh family, you are all in our thoughts.

I knew Kevin from my time with Glasnevin Musical Society - and his very presence at the piano made rehearsals richer and more fun. His humour and talent calmed the most nervous performer and he was always so generous with both.

It has been lovely to reconnect with him and relive memories of our days in the music dept in Maynooth. He was a super talented player and musician and an absolute pleasure to work with. He was a funny, kind, wonderful person. I often sought his advice and it was always spot on. I’ll miss our chats Kevin, and our shows will never be the same without you. Sleep well xx
