To Michael and the extended Clancy family. I was very saddened to hear of Kieran's passing . As you know we were in St Munchin's together and Kieran was always ready with his camera at any school ebent and spent many hours in the school dark room. I still have a photo of Fr Duhig stuck in a ruck during a students versus teachers rugby game. This was a clear sign of things to come. From Kieran I developed my own interest in photography although at a very amature level. I even made one or two forays into the dark room myself. When I was getting married in 1984, Kieran was the only photographer I wanted to take the photos. Unlike many photographers now and even back then who would use several roles of film and have to pick a select few out of up to a 100 pictures (100's today) Kieran being the professional he was used a single role of 24 shots in his camera. Twenty two of which made it into the album. Those photos are admired by everyone and are as vibrant today as when he printed them up over 40 years ago. I was sorry to not have been able to attend his funeral. Every saint in heaven is lining up for Kieran to take their portrait. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Kieran, a lovely person and an exceptionally gifted photographer, a talent equal to the very best. My deepest sympathy to his to his wife, to his family and all those who were nearest and dearest to him. RIP Kieran.

Another great Limerick journalist, sadly passed.
Yet, Kieran is a name that will never be forgotten by those of us, lucky to have known or, indeed, worked with him.
I can still readily recall his very first days working as a press photographer, not just a great man with the camera but, as I term it, "a nose for news," and, able, over the years, to capture the pics that newspapers required.
Later years, I then based in Cork and, travelling national and abroad, a good bit, less face to face meetings with Kieran, yet when we did, great fun chats and, ever review of what was happening in our native, Limerick.
Thank You, Kieran, already another press legend from Shannonside, keep an eye on us from above, enjoy meeting up with my parents, from former Examiner on, Catherine Street, Dick and, Tess and, our prayers for all of you, right now

Kieran Clancy was rightly regarded as one of Ireland's top photojournalists. What a pro — he always delivered, never disappointed, and did so while treating people with courtesy and civility at all times, a gentleman.
It was a pleasure to work with him.
I want to extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Marianne, David, Stephen and Lydia; Catherine, Michael and John; Rory, Tim, Elizabeth and Maebh, and his beloved grandchildren Brianna, Luca and Matthew on Kieran's death.

So sorry, I missed Kieran's Funeral. As a fellow photographer, we often met in both professional and social occasions. He was alway a gentlemen and lovely to meet on these occasions. Deepest condolences to you all, on this sad occasion.

So very sorry to hear the sad passing of Kieran.

Deepest condolences to Kieran's family, relatives and wide circle of friends. Farewell to a wonderful colleague and friend through the decades. He was always the consummate professional: superb eye for the perfect image whether covering a rugby match at Thomond Park, the distressing loss of life in a road crash or a domestic fire, a general election count, a fashion show or the New Year babies. Whenever you found yourself assigned to cover a big breaking story, Kieran was among the elite group of versatile top class news photographers you wanted at your side. Far more important though than meeting the next deadline and winning awards for his outstanding work along the way, Kieran was an exceptional human being in every sense. I imagine he's already teamed up with Tony Purcell, Noel Smith and 'Uncle' Arthur Quinlan in that great newsroom in the sky setting off for the next assignment. I will miss his warm smile, twinkle in the eye and infectious enthusiasm for the story. Rest in peace my old friend.
